Canada Day on the LaHave 2026!

Canada Day is coming back to Downtown Bridgewater for 2026 and there are events happening ALL DAY!
With events such as the Multicultural Festival, Community Picnic on The Bridge, 70ft. Inflatable Obstacle Course, and DJ Street Dance Party, there will be something for everyone this Canada Day!
And don’t forget, Bridgewater Transit is running and FREE for the day!

The Opening Ceremonies begin at 1PM with a performance of the Mi’kmaq Honour Song and accompanied by greeting from officials. The Opening Ceremonies will conclude with the Town of Bridgewater Built Heritage Recognition Awards and an invitation to enjoy a walkabout to the featured Downtown buildings.
Multicultural Festival hosted by South Shore Multicultural Association
At 10:45AM the party really gets started as the Multicultural Festival begins and fills the Downtown with music and performances! The South Shore Multicultural Association will also be hosting a variety of children and family activities so make sure you get the chance to explore all that they are hosting!

Street Market
Visit the Street Market on King Street from 11AM-6PM and find unique wares and offerings from over 20 artisans, creators, and vendors. With everything from fresh strawberries, to LEGO earrings, handmade kites, and dirty soda creations, you’ll be sure to come away with something special!
Delectable Bites – Food & Dining on Canada Day
The Bridgewater Legion will be kicking off the day with a Legion Community Breakfast at 8AM to fuel you for the day’s events.
Once you’ve worked up a lunchtime appetite, enjoy a unique dining experience with the Picnic on the Bridge event. Pack a picnic from home or grab some takeout from one of the food trucks or restaurants and head over to the Old Bridge to enjoy your meal at one of the picnic tables that will be set up right on the bridge! Take this chance to dine like you never have before!
The Food Truck Zone, opening from 11AM-6PM, has everything from gooey grilled cheese to mouthwatering smoked meats and lots of treats to satisfy that sweet tooth. See participating food vendors below:

Children & Family Activities
There’s some competition brewing in the TD Bank parking lot for the 3 vs. 3 Basketball Tournament from 8:30AM – 4:30PM! Teams are required to sign up here by June 26th: https://www.ascentyouthcoaching.com/about-4-6
The Kids Zone, located between Empire and Dominion Street, will have multiple inflatables starting at 12PM, including one 70ft. obstacle course going down King Street! And of course, keep an eye out for the Lion’s Club Wagon Train Rides that will be puttering throughout the Downtown!
Throughout the day keep an eye out for fun Pop-up Photo Op creations by the Riverside Walk, the iconic BernArt Whale, DesBrisay Museum pop-up in King Street Court, ProKids area and activities, and more!
The Bridgewater Fire Department will also be setting up their Truck Display by the Riverside Walk from 11AM-4PM for some firetruck fun!
Stop by and enjoy the Family Fun Day at the Bridgewater Marina with live music, games, inflatables, yard games, and more from 12-3PM.
Looking to cool off? Head over for a free Public Swim at the Michelin Bridgewater Public Pool on Jubilee Road from 1-3PM.
The movie “GOAT” will be playing at HB Studios Fieldhouse at 5PM which features a small goat named Will who gets a chance to join the pros and play “roarball,” a high intensity sport that is known to have the fastest and most fierce animals. Will gets the chance to prove that “small can ball,” when he must go up against other athletes and prove to his team that he belongs!
Evening Entertainment
Finish off the Downtown events with a Street Dance Party! Adam Osbourne and DJ Funkdub will be spinning and mixing some great rhythms to keep the energy flowing.
Don’t want the night to end? Test your knowledge at Canada Day Trivia at King Street Beer or relax from 6PM onwards with Bridgewater Marina’s Late Night Vibe featuring live music, fire pit, and a S’more Bar – yum!
